Chaguanas, Trinidad – October 6, 2020: The Honourable Pennelope Beckles, Minister for Housing and Urban Development will deliver the feature address at a Virtual Budget Breakfast Meeting hosted by the Central Finance Facility (CFF) on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. via Zoom.
Minister Beckles will speak on the topic: “Insight into the Government’s proposed initiatives in the areas of Housing and Urban Development and the role of the Credit Union Movement as it relates to these initiatives”. One of the mandates of the CFF and the movement by extension, is to ensure that credit union members have access to affordable housing. As the newly appointed Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Minister Beckles will speak with credit union leaders about the role of the movement in the development of the housing sector and how it can position itself to best respond to the housing needs of its members.

Dr. Vaalmikki Arjoon, Lecturer, Finance, University of the West Indies who will speak on “Does the 2020/2021 National Budget provide a sufficient framework to ensure economic stability during and post COVID-19?”
This meeting is targeted to board members, managers and senior staff of Credit Unions and represents the continued work by CFF to ensure that the Credit Union Movement of Trinidad and Tobago remains resilient and sustainable during these unprecedented times through the principle of “Cooperation among Cooperatives”.
